MrsDieselEngineer's Journal
Hello all!
My husband (MrDieselEngineer) and I have a small 5 acre farm in Ossipee NH. We currently have 4 registered Boers, 7 high percentage Boers, 2 Nubian/Boers, 1 Nigerian/Boer, 1 Toggenburg, 1 Oberhasli and 1 Pygmy. I think I've got all of them... Almost all the does are bred and due in April 2012. One of the registered boer does, Sophia, is due sometime soon but we don't know when she was bred so she's keeping us guessing!
We also raise chickens, but only have around 15 or so right now. A hodge podge of all sorts of breeds! We were up around 100 or so most of the summer. Decided to only winter a few of them. Sold a good bunch of layers, and filled the freezer
For other animals we have our guard Donkey, Hunter, who keeps the herd free of predators. Levi a 12 hand, POA pony. Dutch our Australian cattle dog who keeps everyone in line, he's suffering from hip dysplasia but with meds is living a somewhat normal life so far... We are currently searching for a puppy to add to our homestead! Oh, and I can't forget our aged rescue cat who was found wandering the streets of a local town. He's quite the character!
I guess that's about it for us!

Yes, Cattle dogs are known for that. Ours is also very protective, or I should say he used to be. His hip dysplasia has made him fairly mellow and he welcomes pretty much anyone nowadays.

Counted the goats yesterday (sad to say I didn't really know how many we own ) and our total is 18! Come spring that number will double or triple depending on how many kids are born. We have 12 does (maybe 14) who are pregnant so we'll see what happens! It will be a very busy time of year, can't wait
We got a female Rottweiler puppy, named Shiloh. She is registered and comes from excellent European lines. Very smart and lots of fun!
She's 11 weeks old today!
Dutch likes playing with Shiloh but has his moments of "get away from me". Shiloh is learning he's all bark and no bite though... LOL

Very cold out there, hope everyones animals are doing well. The kids snuggle up with each other and their respective mothers so they are doing well. The other goats have been eating tons of hay/grain to keep warm. The chickens are also fairing well, even if they aren't producing eggs in return for the amount of food they are consuming! But at least everyone is healthy and warm. Got caught up with some goat record keeping today and our two boarders left today as well. Hopefully they both were successful bred by Casanova. Time will tell!
